He is board-certified by both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Nutrition) and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. His work centers on integrative medicine, clinical nutrition, supplement formulation, and rare infectious disease consulting. Dr. Justin Shmalberg is a veterinarian, board-certified specialist, and Clinical Professor of Integrative Medicine at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. Before veterinary school he founded an early natural pet supply retailer in the Midwest; he earned his DVM at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed advanced training in nutrition and integrative medicine at UF. He currently consults with the UF hospital's integrative medicine, nutrition, and infectious disease services, formulates supplements and minimally-processed foods through his companies - including IVI Blend, Dr. Justin's Wildly, and IVI Nutrition - and writes and lectures on the practical, evidence-based application of natural approaches to companion-animal medicine, with a current focus on healthspan and longevity in dogs and cats.
