The goal of his involvement is to help facilitate and broaden access to the latest innovations in integrative medicine given his leadership in this field. While many strategies for ensuring the health of pets can technically be done at home, like preparing a homemade diet, the reality is that many owners just don’t have the time. So Dr. Shmalberg works selectively with a few companies that, in his view, offer the best products to consumers—those that disrupt the norm in animal care for the advancement of health. In this capacity, he has formulated dozens of fresh diets for multiple companies now sold to pet parents around the world and has led innovations in pet supplements and novel therapeutic diets. He’s considered a leader in fresh foods for both dogs and cats as well as nutraceuticals. He directed the largest scientific team ever assembled to evaluate fresh foods and their impacts on dog and cat health with numerous scientific publications resulting from those efforts.
